When you arrive home after a busy day take a few minutes to unwind before doing anything else.
Here a 6 simple methods to unwind from a busy day:
- Head to your bedroom, change into something soft and comfortable and lie on your back on your bed or on a blanket on the floor. Close your eyes and take some slow, deep breaths.
- Feel the cool air as you inhale it through the tip of your nose. Blow the air out through your mouth and listen to the sound it makes as it passes your lips. Repeat.
- Notice any tension in your body – aching legs, tired feet, tight shoulders. Slowly stretch out your arms and legs. Wiggle the tips of your fingers, feel the softness where they brush against your bed or blanket. Do the same with your toes.
- Pay attention to any thoughts you’re having about your day. As you breathe out, let them go, like balloons floating up and away.
- Listen to the sounds of your house. Focus on one of them – is it constant, or changing? Will it fade, or continue? How does it feel to be still and listen so quietly?
- Open your eyes. Let the room come back into focus. You’re ready to carry on with the rest of your day.
